Trinity University has named Rachel Boaz Toppel as the director of Residential Life, effective immediately. This appointment follows Toppel’s service as interim director of residential life since June 2023. As director, Toppel oversees the Office of Residential Life and collaborates with many campus partners to shape the student residential experience.
Toppel graduated from Trinity University in 2010 and received her master of education in adult and higher education from the University of Oklahoma. Toppel returned to Trinity in 2013 as a residential life coordinator. She then served as the assistant director for residential education in Residential Life. In this role, Toppel contributed significantly to the integration of experiential education and residential life as well as supported first-year programming, Sophomore College, junior and senior halls, and community halls.
“Since my arrival at Trinity, I have worked with Rachel in her capacity as interim director of Residential Life, and I am honored to continue to work with her in this capacity as director moving forward,” says Andrew Wells, Ph.D., vice president for Student Affairs. “Rachel brings experience, empathy, and energy that elevates our vibrant campus culture, and she is committed to improving residential life for all students. Rachel is the perfect Trinity Tiger to continue our important tradition of residential community.”
With more than a decade of experience in Trinity’s Office of Residential Life, Toppel is committed to making Trinity the best home away from home for our students. As director, Toppel will collaboratively define the residential experience for the current and next generations of students, focusing on building community, fostering inclusion and belonging, and supporting students’ overall well-being.
